Antique Edwardian period porcelain Peacock sugar bowl and creamer by Locke and Co., Shrub Hill Works, Worcester, England
Antique Edwardian period porcelain Peacock sugar bowl and creamer by Locke and Co., Shrub Hill Works, Worcester, England
A lovely antique Edwardian period porcelain sugar bowl and creamer by Locke and Co., a Worcester porcelain manufacturer active 1898-1914. Edward Locke, one of their founders, had worked in the modelling department of Royal Worcester for some time.
Their work was of very good quality, so much so that their pieces are often confused with Royal Worcester’s Blush Ivory range.
This particular set is a fine example, with a beautifully moulded handle to the creamer and decorative scrolled flora encircling the top and bottom borders. The handpainted peacock central motifs are superbly done, with striking cobalt enamels to both body and tail of the peacock. Gilt details to the rims and to the handle complete the look.
Globe backstamp for Locke and Co. Ltd.’s Shrub Hill Works, Worcester, England to base which is circa the 1902-1914 period.
Price marked at $300 AUD for the pair
