Antique early to mid 19th century English blue and white transfer ware pattern plate, Staffordshire, City of London motto and motifs

From the estate of a noted ceramics and antiques collector, a particularly fine and desirable example of an early English blue and white transfer ware pattern plate dating early to mid 19th century. Many early pieces such as this one are unmarked, but this bears the motto of the City of London “Domine Dirige Nos”. The border is beautifully executed with 4 crown motifs as well as thistles and roses. We have not found another piece like this in our research and despite minor condition issues, this would be an excellent piece for collectors.

Measurements:20.5cm diameter. 2cm height. 

Good antique condition. Gilt loss to rim, historic chip to border, some yellowing and crazing commensurate with age. Minor firing flaws to base and mild wear commensurate with age.
