Today we have a fantastic antique early 20th century cast iron money bank 'Every Copper Helps' and “I Love a Copper” in the shape of a police officer and a housewife respectively. This was made in England by Sydenham & McOustra circa 1910.

Sydenham & McOustra Limited was a well-known Walsall ironfounder, which started at Beacon Foundry, Beacon Street, Walsall in about 1900. The firm specialised in light castings for electrical engineering companies, and the textile trade. The foundry was slightly unusual in that as well as producing a range of castings for its customers, it also produced a range of finished goods including small carpenter's tools, adhesive and tape dispensers, toys, and money boxes. The up-to-date factory included a rest room, and shower baths for the employees.

This is a fantastic and very rare example of this moneybag, being the only cast iron example with both copper and lady that we have seen. It appears that there were later brass versions made, possibly due to wartime scarcity.

Price marked at AUD$600.
Measurements: 15 length by 10 width by 5.5cm deep.
Good vintage condition. It appears it was repainted some time last century, but some traces of original patina are still visible around the features and to the base.

The first photo shows the colour, while other pictures have been lightened to show details.
