Antique early 20th century Art Nouveau European Lorgnette with Mother of Pearl Handle, Etched Floral Motifs

Lovely antique Art Nouveau mother-of-pearl handled lorgnette. This is likely Continental European in origin, and dates from the first quarter of the 20th century. Beautiful etched design of Art Nouveau whiplash lines and florals. The mechanism is in good condition and the lenses are remarkably intact. 

Lorgnettes were one of the many diversions and games in high society, when a lady using these at the opera could also display her interest in the whys, where and of course whos in her surroundings. A lovely decorative piece, and one that would be ideal for any collectors of historical costumes and vintage clothing.
