Here we have a lovely antique Chinese export silver twin drinks or bottle holder with associated glasses, with marks for Shao Ying Tang and Zee Sung, circa 1920s to 1930s, Shanghai. Beautifully worked with auspicious motifs of dragons soaring amongst clouds. The craftsmanship is impeccable with etched details to the clouds as well as throughout the dragons’ bodies. This holder could be used to decorate any table, for instance uses could include candles, cut fresh flowers, cutlery, condiments and spices etc. Perfect for a whisky connoisseur, as well as for The Year of The Dragon.

We believe the associated glasses are later replacements, but as they fit perfectly we have left them as-is to be included with this drinks holder.

Shao Ying Tang 邵鷹堂 was a maker active in Shanghai and Canton. His work was retailed by important firms including Zee Sung and Tuck Chang.

Zee Sung was a noted Shanghai silversmith and retailer, specialising in smaller items. This rare item, notable for its design, was likely made by Shao Ying Tang and retailed by Zee Sung.

This tests as silver, likely between .900 to .950 silver.

Price marked at $3500 AUD.

Measurements: 27cm height, 17 by 7cm base measurements. Silver Weight: 320.5 grams.
