This bronze sculptural wall panel framed in black marble circa 1910-1920 is a truly rare and collectible piece. During the turn of the century, Art Nouveau flourished in America and Europe, but examples from Hungary were comparatively rare, especially in bronze. Moreso as Art Nouveau in Hungarian was often a distinct style called Hungarian Secessionism, but this particular plaque was clearly more inspired by the German Jugendstil movement.

Signed by Anton Rudolf Weinberger, who was noted for his bronzes, particularly in medal work. Several of his pieces are in the British museum and prized by collectors, with examples of his bronze plaques being particularly rare. 

Featuring three maidens, possibly nymphs dancing and the caption “Jugend” (stylised as JVGEND), this is an excellent piece to collect for enthusiasts of Art Nouveau and art. This sort of rarer, relatively more unusual examples of Jugendstil in decorative art are highly desirable and will likely increase in value over the years.
