A beautiful set of 6 George IV Hanoverian pattern sterling silver table forks, with marks for Jonathan Hayne, London, 1827.
A popular and prolific maker, Hayne was active from 1810 to 1848 and his pieces are fine examples of early 19th century silver. In 1833, he invented a method of manufacturing silver spoons and cutlery in a single blow using a heavy hammer, which was illustrated in 1839 by Andrew Ure in "A Dictionary of Arts, Manufactures, and Mines".

Excellent antique condition overall, one tine to one fork slightly misshapen, all marks crisp and well-struck. Substantial with thick gauge.
