A stunning set of 4 crested sterling silver George III salt cellars with marks for London, 1793, John Wakelin & Robert Garrard. With the partnership active from 1793-1801, this dates to the very first year of a partnership that would later become the famous company Garrard.
Garrard needs little to no introduction, but they have been synonymous with craftsmanship for centuries. Crown Jewellers from 1843 to 2007, they currently produce work of this quality only for the most bespoke commissions. For instance, they continue to make trophies for the Americas Cup, Ascot and the British Masters.
The crest which is of a deer hound argent bears the motto “God with us”. This was of the Gordon family whose seat was at Abergeldie, Ballater, county Aberdeen, Scotland.
