A  late 19th century tartanware box, which used to be called "Go-To-Beds". They were so called because before the advent of electric lights, one would light a match, place it in the little bone finial and and carry it to light their way to bed.

Inlay is in good condition. A classic tartan in the McBeth pattern. Clan MacBeth is a Highland Scottish Clan originating in the Angus region of Scotland. The legendary ancestor of the Clan was MacBeth, King of Scotland from 1040 – 1057 and was made famous in Shakespeare's play, MacBeth.

Overall  a charming and collectible piece.

Price marked at $300 AUD.

Measurements: 5.5 diameter, 5.5cm height.
