This beautiful set of two plates are circa mid 19th century and are attributed to the famous English porcelain maker Minton.

Both plates have their diamond marks, albeit one more legible than the other. The mark is from the first series (1842-1867) indicating the design was registered on the 13th April, 1850.

In our opinion this is Minton; National Archive records indicate the Minton porcelain company registered pieces on that date; early Minton pieces do not always have the full hallmark, and this does have an impressed horseshoe mark which is the Minton year mark for 1853.

My absolute favourite feature of these plates is the way that the rose motif border pattern has been exquisitely painted directly onto the gilt surface; while there is some light wear, particularly to the inner rim, that does not detract from the lovely handpainted border motifs. The fluted interior details and depth to these

Price marked at AU$400 each or AU$700 for the set of 2. Please contact us if you'd like to purchase separately.

Measurements: Approximately 23 cm diameter, 4 cm high.

Condition: Some wear to the gilt rim in the centre of the bowl. Otherwise overall very good antique condition for porcelain of this age.
