Rare and Important antique 19th century Miniature of Lise Joubert, wife of Didier Numa Joubert

This lovely antique miniature is of Lise Joubert, wife of Didier Numa Joubert who was one of Sydney’s most prominent merchants and ‘a key player in the history of Hunters Hill’.

Dated 1831, this is an early portrait of a figure who played an important role behind the scenes of one of Sydney’s oldest and most prestigious suburbs. Early Colonial Australian miniatures are extremely rare, and this one particularly so as we believe this is the only existing miniature of Madame Joubert in her youth to be found.
