A rare and excellent antique Edwardian Masonic jewel brooch with marks for Birmingham, 1910, Spencer & Co. featuring a Star of David, a square and compass motif as well as a hand-painted scene in porcelain depicting a lodge. The Star of David features white enamel and the exquisite details of this brooch make this one of the more unusual and fine examples of Masonic jewels we have come across.
Hallmarked to pin and separate components of the brooch indicating the brooch is made of 9ct gold.
The exterior of brooch has been “bloomed” to give it that beautiful buttery sheen associated with high carat gold.
Made by Spencer & Co. London, a jewellery manufacturer of note which was later acquired by Toye to become Toye, Kennard & Spencer which still operates today.
Price marked at $2800 AUD.
Measurements: 5.5cm across, 4cm height. 10.9 grams.
Excellent antique condition with minor wear overall commensurate with age. Thread remnants to back of pin, indicative of being secured to ribbon.
