William Moorcroft Orchid pattern ovoid vase circa 1937

An excellent vintage near antique William Moorcroft Orchid pattern ovoid vase circa 1937. William Moorcroft began his career working for the MacIntyre company in the late 19th century, and by 1904 he had perfected the technique of tube-lining.
In 1912 he left to establish his own pottery backed by Liberty & Co, which sold many of his products, and which was later succeeded by his son Walter. This vase is in the Moorcroft signature Orchid pattern, first designed by William Moorcroft in the 1930s. While there are later versions by his son Walter, the original early Royal Warrant paper label to base which was used circa 1928 to 1953 distinguishes this as being the earlier version.
Moorcroft pieces remain highly desirable today.
