Beautiful Victorian Staffordshire pottery figurine of a Highland gentleman with his poodle, circa 1840s to 1860s. Beautifully handpainted with rustic details, including the granulated texture to the poodle’s coat and heather.
These little figurines were usually handpainted by working class women of the time, and provide a glimpse at daily life in the 19th century. These Staffordshire wares thus showcase both the beauty and function inherent in such pieces during Victorian times, , which provided much joy to the emerging middle-class of Victorian society.
