A beautiful and rare midcentury modern uranium glass bowl by the Riihimäki / Riihimäen Lasi glassworks, a renowned Finnish firm circa 1960s.
Founded in 1910, the Riihimäki glassworks became the largest glass factory in Finland by 1927 after buying the Kaukalahti glassworks. Riihimaki was later renamed Riihimaen Lasi Oy in 1937, and with Aimo Okkolin, Helena Tynell, Nanny Still iand Tamara Aladin joining over the next two decades, the firm enjoyed its Golden Age during the midcentury period. Riihimäki would later close in 1990, but their glassware remains highly collectible today.
