An elegant pair of late Victorian Christopher Dresser influenced sterling silver salt cellars with marks for London, 1875, Martin, Hall & Co (Richard Martin & Ebenezer Hall). The firm was active from 1863 to 1904 at the Shrewsbury Works in Sheffield.
Very elegant pieces with a nod to the Aesthetic Movement, with engraving around the body, ball feet and richly gilded interiors. Christopher Dresser designed for Martin and Hall during the late 19th century, and these pieces reflect his signature avant garde, ‘proto-modernist’ style that Dresser made famous.
Price marked at $1500 AUD the pair.
Measurements: 101.8 grams total weight, 3.4cm height, 5.5cm opening diameter.
Excellent antique condition with minor wear overall commensurate with age, marks crisp and clear.
