A beautiful set of 6 antique sterling silver teaspoons and a matching pair of sugar tongs, with marks for London, 1887, John Aldwinckle & Thomas Slater, who used this mark from 1884 to 1894. Beautifully presented in original retailer’s case by Hardy Bros, Sydney. Hardy Brothers is one of the great names in Australian history when it comes to fine jewellery, silver and decorative arts. Their historic products are extremely collectible, and are held in state and national collections. It remains the only Australian jewellery business to hold a royal warrant and has produced the Melbourne Cup since 1980.
Founded in 1838 by Henry Holland, the firm entered into partnership with Aldwinckle and Slater in 1880 and would continue under this date until 1932.
