A charming William IV period Hicks and Meigh Ironstone plate, hand-painted in the Water Lily pattern #5, circa 1830.
Hicks and Meigh “Ironstone Warranted” factory mark on the base as well as a hand painted mark of 5 in red, indicating pattern number. Hicks and Meigh were well-regarded ironstone manufacturers who were active from 1803 to 1835, with their Broad Street factory later acquired by Ridgway and Co.
