Fantastic well carved vintage Javanese mask of some age. This is likely early to mid 20th century. These were used in dances and plays both for entertainment and ceremonial purposes. We believe this mask depicts a demon, possibly a mischievous spirit of some sort. It's staring eyes, grinning white teeth, and gilt adornments make this a particularly striking mask.
