Well carved vintage Javanese mask, Puppet / Theatre / Dance, Grinning Red Demon Face

Fantastic well carved vintage Javanese mask of some age. This is likely early to mid 20th century. These were used in dances and plays both for entertainment and ceremonial purposes. We believe this mask depicts a demon, possibly a mischievous spirit of some sort. It's staring eyes, grinning white teeth, and gilt adornments make this a particularly striking mask. Stand is for display purposes only and is not for sale.

Condition: Very good antique condition overall, some gilt loss and wear to paint, particularly to nose. No major splits or cracks to note.
