Beautifully made vintage Japanese Kutani plates circa Taisho to Showa Period (1920s to 1930s). Two of these feature a hand-painted scene of a daimyo (castle lord) and his retainers, while one depicts two scholars painting art and admiring the scenery. First established in 1655, Kutani ware has a long history as one of Japan’s best pottery manufacturing areas, and gained prominence in 1873 when it was exhibited at the World Exposition in Vienna.

These would make beautiful condiment or snack dishes. Marked Kutani Tsukuru to base.

Price marked at $50 AUD each or $150AUD for the set of 3.

Measurements: 12cm diameter, 2.5cm high.

Excellent vintage condition, minor wear overall and firing flaws commensurate with age.
