Vintage Indian repousse silver and timber shell-form box circa 1975

A lovely vintage Indian silver shell-form box circa 1970s, approximately .800 to .900 silver purity. Plaque inscribed “Kolmar Seminar // Bombay March 1975”. Beautiful repousse work to the shell, with a body that is solid timber with charming patina.

The conch shell is one of the 8 Great Auspicious Symbols in Buddhism, and is important in both Buddhism and Hinduism. It is believed to represent the sound of the Dharma.
