A beautiful vintage Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Maidenhead sterling silver spoon with marks for London, 1977, J.B. Chatterley & Sons Limited, who were Birmingham silversmiths active from 1928 to 1977. The origins of Maidenhead spoons date to Elizabethan times when they were one of the most popular styles of the fourteenth century. The Virgin Mary is seen on the finial here in gold gilt, dressed in Tudor style with an elaborate rolled headdress and dress with raised collar.
