This is a beautiful vintage 20th century lidded Chinese jar from Jingdezhen with an apocryphal Yongzheng red transfer stamped seal to base. With a classic motif of a courtyard scene depicting a mother and two children, what is unusual is the man painted on the top of the lid, possibly the father of this family.
This is highly similar to the ginger jars used by the Amoy Canning Company in the late 19th to early 20th century, and we believe this likely dates to early 20th century or pre-Cultural Revolution days.
Price marked at $180 AUD.
Measurements: 12cm high, 12cm diameter at widest point.
Excellent vintage condition. Minor firing flaws and minor wear overall commensurate with age. Wear to base.
