Vintage 1930s to 1950s McIlwraith & McEacharn Line silver-plated souvenir bowl

An uncommon and interesting vintage 1930s to 1950s silver-plated souvenir bowl from the McIlwraith & McEacharn Line, a Scottish-Australian company that was in the shipping and Australian coastal passenger trade.

Similar to a silver mug for the McIlwraith & McEacharn Line in the Australian National Maritime Museum, this bowl “is a good example of the types of souvenirs produced for and used aboard passenger vessels in the 20th century, on the Australian route”.

Made by Walker and Hall which was founded in 1845 by George Walker and operated under this name from 1853 to 1920. They were among the best in plated silver items and this piece shows their reputation was well deserved. This mark was used during the 1930s to early 1950s, which helps to date this item to this period.

Excellent vintage possibly antique condition, with minimal wear overall.
