Beautiful Victorian Staffordshire pottery Shepherdess spill vase, circa 1840s to 1860s. Beautifully handpainted with rustic details, including the granulated texture to the sheep’s coat and floral details.
These little figurines were usually handpainted by working class women of the time, and provide a glimpse at daily life in the 19th century. These Staffordshire wares thus showcase both the beauty and function inherent in such pieces during Victorian times, which provided much joy to the emerging middle-class of Victorian society.
