日本明治時期,東京學派象牙雕像。身穿浴衣,持扇的祭舞者。整體品相良好,可見輕微泛黃。10.5 厘米高,肩部直徑約 5 厘米。

A lovely Japanese ivory okimono of a man in traditional summer clothing (jinbei).

To me this piece perfectly evokes the feeling of festival/matsuri season in Japan; sunshine, heat, the hint of a breeze and above all the simple cotton jinbei that encapsulates summer. Even his pose, with his fan held to his face, suggests the opening movements of a traditional dance.

This is likely a piece from the late 19th to early 20th century, most likely Meiji period circa turn of the century. The attention to detail of carving and Western-influenced realism in this piece suggests Tokyo School craftsmanship.
