One of the most elegant sets of flatware we have come across, this set of eight 19th century silver entree forks by the renowned French firm Puiforcat are a joy to behold. Made in .950, these are higher in silver purity than the sterling silver standard and attest to the quality of Puiforcat’s craftmanship. Marks for Emile Puiforcat, who founded the firm in 1820, and the Minerva mark for .950 silver fineness.

These forks are circa 1857 to 1897 and at this time Puiforcat had made its name in high end flatware, in particular for pieces inspired by historical masterpieces, including from the company’s own archives. Still operating today, the firm epitomises French fine silverware at its best with a recent collaboration with Hermes in 2016.

When placed face downwards in the French manner these forks bear exquisite cartouches as well as elegant monogrammed initials within.

Price marked at $2400 AUD for the set.

Measurements: 403.5 grams, 18cm length.

Excellent antique condition with light wear overall commensurate with age. Maker’s marks and minerva marks crisp and well-struck; city assay marks slightly rubbed.
