This Royal Doulton "Monty" character jug (model no D6202) commemorates General Montgomery. The handle is embossed with his greatest victories and campaigns, beginning with El Alamein and Tobruk. Montgomery's victories over Erwin "The Desert Fox" Rommel in the Africa theatre cemented his reputation as one of the greatest strategists and military thinkers in the 20th century (albeit not the best diplomat). This jug was designed by Harry Fenton and was issued 1946 – 1991. This looks to be an older piece, likely mid 20th century.
