Rare Ebonized Wood Framed Victorian Prattware Pot Lid Commemorating Prince Albert's Marriage to Princess Alexandra, 1863

A lovely framed mid to late Victorian pot lid mounted in original ebonized timber frame. A rare colorised version, this Prattware lid commemorates Albert Edward Prince of Wales' wedding with Princess Alexandra in 1863. 

The lettering and graphics applied to these paste pots now provide stunning examples of Victorian utilitarianism and insight into 19th century daily life, as well as people’s needs and aspirations at the time. These showcase both the beauty and function inherent in many such wares during Victorian times.
 

Dimensions: Frame dia. 15.5 cm, pot lid diameter 10.5

Condition: Light crazing as pictured, there was green felt to the back that was removed at some point.
