This stunning Epping Forest Centenary Flagon with marks for London, 1979, Hector Miller for Aurum, was made by Hector Miller for Aurum Designs- one of the finest firms that made post-war British silver. This was the 15th of a limited edition run of 100 made for John Sutherland-Hawes' Aurum Designs. With the first having been presented to the City of London, only 99 were ever available to the public.

Hector Miller was one of Britain’s finest modern silversmiths; he was a designer and manager for several years at the Clerkenwell workshop of Stuart Devlin, as well as receiving commissions for Downing Street.

Having joined as a liveryman (member) of the Goldsmith's Company, he would later become Prime Warden.

This was commissioned by the Epping Forest Centenary Trust to commemorate the centenary in 1978 of the Corporation of London's role as conservators of Epping Forest. With a capacity of 2 pints, this is of substantial size and the craftsmanship is excellent as befitting Aurum, with planished body, blackened silver details and a gilt silver stag finial to the top.

Price marked at $15000 AUD.

Measurements: 33cm height, 13cm base diameter, 20cm length from spout to handle. 1317 grams.

Excellent vintage condition with minor wear commensurate with age as pictured.
