A beautiful and rare Great Britain George II silver’Lima’ 1745 shilling.

The story behind these ‘Lima’ shillings is long and fascinating, but dates to the source of the silver- the little known War of Jenkin’s Ear. Having captured tonnes of silver from Spanish treasure galleons that had been transporting silver from Peru, these ‘Lima’ shillings were struck from that silver to commemorate the British victory.
