A lovely framed mid to late Victorian pot lid that would suit any Prattware collector- or perhaps a country kitchen? Carefully mounted in its original timber frame, this pot lid depicts a country village scene, perhaps a festival or wedding. Circa 1860-80s, this is a quintessential example of Victorian Prattware, and demonstrates daily entertainment in Victorian times. Beautiful rose hues make this a particularly charming scene, one that would suit a variety of styles.
The lettering and graphics applied to these paste pots provide lovely examples of Victorian utilitarianism and insight into 19th century daily life, as well as people’s needs and aspirations at the time. These showcase both the beauty and function inherent in many such wares during Victorian times.
