Beautiful midcentury Taxco sterling silver woven basket by Alfredo Villasana, a noted jewellery and silversmith. Based in Taxco Mexico, Villasana worked for prominent silversmiths and jewellery firms such as William Sprawling and Hector Aguilar. By the 1950s, he had opened his own jewellery and silver retail firm to wide acclaim and his designs remain highly collectible today.
With a lovely rope twist border and organic shape, this is a beautiful statement piece to have as a small fruit basket or for table linens etc.
