Midcentury 1970s Lidded Jingdezhen Yellow Mun Shou Longevity Porcelain Soy Sauce jars, Screw Top Lids
We recently sourced these vintage midcentury Jingdezhen porcelain soy sauce bottles in Hong Kong. Made in a rare yellow colourway, this is a classic longevity pattern with 4 motifs with the characters 萬壽無疆, which translates to “Boundless Longevity”. Base on mark dates this to late 70s, early 80s. The porcelain tops screw in making these a very secure fit.
The longevity pattern is made up of a floral design mixed with 4 equally spaced circles containing the Chinese characters 萬 “Wàn”, 壽 “Shòu”, 無 “Wú” , 疆 “Jiāng”. The phrase 萬壽無疆 translates to “Boundless Longevity” and is the key component of the classic longevity pattern that originated during the Kangxi Period of the Qing Dynasty (1661-1722). The Wan Shou Wu Jiang tea wares have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity with collectors, and these particular pieces are new old stock and have never been used.
Price marked at $160 AUD each. We have two pieces in this style and pattern available.
Measurements: 11.5 cm high, 8cm diameter at widest point.
Excellent vintage condition. Very light fade around handles but overall mint vintage condition.
