This lovely midcentury Jingdezhen ginger jar features the signature Jingdezhen style border pattern to the top. The porcelain mark indicates this to be made in Jingdezhen Factory N, which hearkens to the Cultural Revolution era practice of factory collectivisation. This factory code specifically dates it to the 60s to 70s, and by Xinguang Porcelain Factory 新光瓷厂, which was the city’s ceramic painting factory at that time. There is some research indicating that this jar was used by Amoy Canning Corporation, a Hong Kong company, for its soy and dairy products.
A charming piece in a style that is skyrocketing in terms of value and collectivity.
Price marked at AUD$160.
Measurements: 11.5 cm dia. at widest point, 12 cm approx height.
Missing lid, but otherwise in good vintage condition, light wear commensurate with age, one or two internal firing flaws as pictured.
