Mid to late Victorian brass-handled papier-mache tray and/or cake basket circa 1847-1870

A beautiful mid to late Victorian brass-handled papier-mache tray and/or cake basket circa 1847-1870. A lovely traditional black and floral motif, with a gilt pattern and elegant brass rope twist handle. 

While there are losses to the inlay and gilt loss to the pattern, which is common with papier-mâché items of this age, it is still a sturdy and usable piece perfect for a High Victorian tea party.

Measurements: 27cm diameter, 15cm high including handle. 

Good antique condition for papier-mâché, with aforementioned losses and a chip to underside, not visible when displayed.
