Mid to late 19th Century Victorian Prattware Pot Lid- "Good Dog", Rare Pattern
This pot lid is decorated with a scene titled "Good Dog". It depicts a boy dressed in blue, playing in a stream. His dog is depicted as his loyal companion, having just retrieved his little sailing boat for him. In the background is a castle upon the hill.
A scarce pattern which showcases the technical excellence and whimsical charm of Prattware. The lettering and graphics applied to these paste pots provide lovely examples of Victorian utilitarianism and insight into 19th century daily life, as well as people’s needs and aspirations at the time.
