This lovely late 19th century Anglo-Indian silver locket is of the style sometimes referred to as Swami ware, and this style generally originates from the Madras region of India.
Intricate repousse work can be seen with twin deities with a palm tree to the centre, a highly unusual design that we have not seen before. Circa late 1870s to 1880s, it has the craftsmanship signature of Indian silversmithing, with the figures in high relief and intricate details. Even the bail is beautifully with another deity motif.
Unmarked as is typical of antique Anglo-Indian silver, but likely between .800 to .900 silver purity.

Price marked at $500 AUD.
Measurements: Locket 5 by 4.5cm , incl bail . 7.2 cm. 44.2 grams total weight.
Excellent antique condition, the glass frame within intact and free from chips. Light wear commensurate with careful storage and minimal use.
