This lovely late 19th century Anglo-Indian silver jug is sometimes referred to as Swami ware, and this style generally originates from the Madras region of India. Intricate repousse work can be seen with deities in varying poses around the bowl. Circa late 1870s to 1880s, its cobra handle, intricate repousse deity motifs and figural spout in a shape of a mythical beast make this a charming, very collectible piece.
A useful, lovely piece, made from .800 to .900silver.
