This lovely late 19th century Anglo-Indian silver bowl is sometimes referred to as Swami ware, and this style generally originates from the Madras region of India. Intricate repousse work can be seen with deities in varying poses around the bowl. . Circa late 1870s to 1880s with a high footed stem, its graceful silhouette evocative of a lotus flower means that it could be used in various ways: food, sugar cubes, trinkets, or even as an altar or offering bowl.
