Here we have an elegant pair of near antique George V sterling silver tongs with marks for Sheffield, 1934, Emile Viner. Thick gauge and substantial, these are timelessly elegant. Unmonogrammed and uncrested. These would be fantastic for bread, pastries and would look wonderful on any dining table.
Nowadays known as Viners, the maker Emile Viner was first active in Sheffield during the turn of the century. He and his brother were noted for their silverware and fine dining pieces; they also manufactured helmets and other war items during WWI. In 1926 the company was succeeded by Emile Viner’s son Edward Viner and was active until the 1960s.
