This stunning ladle is not only a work of art in its own right, but boasts an impressive lineage making this highly desirable for the serious collector.

With hallmarks for London, 1840 and the makers William Bateman & Co, this places it in a historic year by a historic maker.

William Bateman, grandson of the famous female silversmith Hester Bateman, was in partnership with Daniel Ball between 1839 to 1843. They were leading silversmiths of the time, retailed by such storied jewellers as Rundell, Bridge and Co.

This pattern would likely have been made to celebrate the marriage of Queen Victoria to her consort Prince Albert, which was in February of the same year.

A substantial 354 grams, this is priced at $2100 AUD.

Measurements of 10 x 8 by just under 3 cm high for the ladle. Ladle length of approximately 27 cm.
