High Victorian English provincial silver double-struck Kings Pattern ladle

Elegant High Victorian English provincial silver double-struck Kings Pattern ladle with marks for Exeter, 1855, Josiah Williams & Co. Josiah and James Williams were active from 1852 to 1869; Bristol silversmiths, this is a rare example of their work registered at the Exeter assay office, all the moreso as this was assayed in the Exeter office before it closed in 1882.. Substantial and thick gauge.

Engraved with a crest to handle of an arm affixed, holding aloft an open book. Further research on this crest remains ongoing.

Measurements: 350 grams, 33 cm length. Bowl measurements 8.5 by 11cm.

Excellent antique condition. Marks crisp and well-struck.
