Lovely late 18th century George III bright cut English provincial silver sugar tongs with feathered edges to pattern, with partial marks for Thomas Watson, Newcastle (1793-1845). This would be his earlier mark which was used between 1793 to 1798, placing this spoon within this timeframe. Intriguing shell-like pattern to the grips. Monogrammed M // TD to the bow of the period.
Price marked at $300 AUD
Measurements: 13.5cm length, 27.8 grams.
Very good antique condition. Thick gauge and crisp, well-struck lion rampant mark and maker’s mark; no other hallmarks.
