This finely done Mason Ironstone plate, circa 1820s, mingles Imari style with Victorian flourishes with its stylised ornate border and scalloped rim. In particular it denotes paisley-style influences, with side-growing branches and graduated blooms.

The center features a mountain, possibly cliff side scene. Stylised blossoms including peonies as well as morning glories can be seen, as well as a thatched roof and wall motif.

Gilt rim and embellishment has been used to great effect in this piece; not just on the plate rim, but also to vein the leaves and accent curlicue scrolls. Similarly, rich blue and iron red glazes here have been imaginatively used, such as with two tone shades to denote depth and an ombré pattern to the open blossoms.

Plate diameter of 26cm.
Slight wear to outer rim commensurate with age. Very faint wear overall. Wear to base. Some wear to hallmark but still legible. No chips or cracks.
