European Bedouin Themed Biscuit Barrel circa 1890 - 1920
European Bedouin Themed Biscuit Barrel circa 1890 - 1920
Bedouin themed biscuit barrel circa as early as 1890 to 1920, of Continental European origin.
With EPNS settings, the Bedouin motifs are well executed and capture European fascination with the Bedouin people. It may be noted that there was sustained interest in the region since the Congress of Berlin in 1878, when Disraeli and other notable politicians of the time began partitioning pieces of what was then the Ottoman Empire.
During World War One too, fascination with the Bedouin people reached an all time high due to the sensational exploits of Colonel T.E. Lawrence (i.e. Lawrence of Arabia).
Certainly a lovely piece as well as encapsulating a bit of history of the time.
Measurements: 11 cm opening diameter, 14.5 barrel height. Approximately 15 cm across widest point.
