Edwardian Sterling Silver Chain Link Belt, Henry Matthews Birmingham 1902

This lovely Edwardian sterling silver belt is a timeless piece that would suit a variety of styles; perhaps a modern slip dress and certainly an Edwardian tea dress or two. The craftsmanship on this is particularly fine, with intricate pierced links and figural motifs forming each chain link, as well as the beautiful countryside scenes on the belt panels (8 including the buckle). The hand hammered and beautifully finished details are part of the charm of antique silver, with hallmarks for Henry Matthews, Birmingham, 1902. Matthews was particularly noted for producing small items which required great attention to detail; this piece despite its larger size still showcases the meticulous nature of his work.

Price marked at $750; an excellent price especially considering its substantial weight of 106.2g.
