Early 19th Century Regency Period Plate by Worcester (Flight, Barr & Barr Period)

With exquisitely handpainted roses and tiny blue flowers. This particular plate is from one of the rarest and most outstanding periods of Worcester's production and indeed of English porcelain- that of the Flight, Barr & Barr period- and is circa 1808-13.

This is an absolutely beautiful plate as well as historically important- painted by William Billingsley, this piece is from one of the great names in English porcelain. Known as something of a maverick, Billingsley started his career at Royal Crown Derby as an apprentice and left as their master floral painter.

His “Prentice Plate” was used in the Derby factory to show trainees what the gold standard was- and he brought those same standards to Worcester in 1807. He stayed at Worcester for only 4 short years, leaving in 1813- thus pieces from his tenure there are both rare and desirable.

Excellent antique condition considering this plate is over 250 years old. Faint gilt loss to some areas of rim and some wear to base. This has clearly been a treasured piece handed down through generations.
