A lovely early 19th century English porcelain cup & saucer circa 1817-1830. Brilliantly executed flowers within shaped cartouches against a rich cobalt blue ground. Richly gilded patterns including arabesques and acanthus leaves as well as trailing ivy make this one of the lovelier cups we have seen from this period, really speaking to the craftsmanship of early pre-Victorian porcelain.

Due to the distinctive floral motifs, cobalt ground and distinctive handle, this cup is attributed to Charles Bourne, a short lived but brilliant porcelain manufacturer in Staffordshire active from 1817 to 1830.

Price marked from $480 AUD
