Crown Derby Plate w/ Turquoise Border & Floral Chain c 1775-1781
Crown Derby Plate w/ Turquoise Border & Floral Chain c 1775-1781
This plate is very similar to Chelsea-Derby designs circa 1770; William Duesbury acquired the Chelsea works in 1770, and from then on an intermingling of designs can be seen between 1770-1800. This plate has a lovely and quite unusual turquoise border, as well as floral chain swags which circles the plate.
Gilt loss overall and particularly to outer border; some wear commensurate with age. Still a beautiful piece bearing several interesting characteristics as mentioned above which make this of interest to any discerning collector.
Price marked at AU$400.
Measurements: 22cm diameter, 2.5cm height.
Condition: Some wear commensurate with age and kiln speckling (small porcelain flecks caused during firing). Wear to gilt and glaze as pictured.
